How to open and print your book
You don't need to install anything. Here is exactly what to do, step by step. If you get stuck, write to help@rosiewhitcomb.com and we'll help you.
1. Find your book
- Right after you pay, your screen shows the book with a Read button and a Download button.
- You also get an email from Gumroad with a link to your book. Keep that email. It is your key to the book, forever.
- No email? Look in your spam or junk folder. Still nothing after 15 minutes? Write to us and we'll send the link again.
- When you open the link from the email, Gumroad may ask you to type your email address once more. That's normal. Type the same address you used to pay.
2. Read it on an iPad or iPhone
The easiest way: tap Read. The book opens right on your screen and remembers your page.
To keep it in the Books app:
- Tap Download next to the file that ends in .epub (the phone and tablet edition).
- When it opens, tap the Share button (a square with an arrow pointing up).
- Choose Books. The book now waits for you in the Books app, and you can make the letters bigger with the Aa button.
3. Read it on a computer
- Click Download next to Make-It-Bloom-Again-PRINT-edition.pdf (the whole book).
- Open your Downloads folder and double-click the file. It opens in your computer's PDF reader.
- Click any chapter in the Contents page to jump straight to it.
4. Print it
- Open the PDF on your computer, then choose File, then Print.
- Paper: US Letter. Scale: 100% or "Actual size".
- To print only your plants, type the page numbers in the Pages box, for example 113 to 126 for the moth orchid. The Contents page lists where each plant starts.
- The care cards and calendars are in their own small file called Printables. Print those first, they're the handiest.
Black and white printing works fine. To save ink, skip the cover and the five part-title pages with big photos, or print in black and white.
5. Send it to a Kindle
Send the phone and tablet edition (the file that ends in .epub), because a full-size PDF is very small on a Kindle screen. First, in your Amazon account go to Devices, then Preferences, then Personal Document Settings, and add Gumroad's sending address to the Approved Personal Document E-mail List. Then, on the Gumroad page, tap Send to Kindle and type your Kindle email address.
